IMPRESSIONS: Techinques of Printed Images

An exhibit of samplings of the museum’s historic print collection, featuring different types of historic prints. The exhibit will include wood block prints, engravings, etchings, lithographs, chromoliths; featuring works of famous artists and printmakers including George Catlin, John Woodhouse Audubon, Currier & Ives, Frederic Remington, and four 19th century woodblocks by Japanese artists. The exhibit can be viewed Wednesdays through Sundays from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The exhibit runs through October 15.

        Join Antioch University and the Chesterfield Conservation Commission’s Tom Duston for a five- to six-hour hike from Pisgah State Park to Keene along the Keene Connector of the Wantastiquet-Monadnock Trail.  We will hike through the beautifully preserved California Brook Natural Area and Horatio Colony Preserve.  Meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Horatio Colony Nature Preserve on Daniels Hill Road. Vernal Pool Hike

  Every spring, small depressions in the northern forest floor come alive, filling with rain, melting snow, and, eventually, salamander and frog eggs. By summer’s end, many of these vernal pools will have dried out, revealing little trace of the life they contained in April & May. New England Soils Trek

Join us for a hands-on investigation of New England soils at the Horatio Colony Nature Preserve. Our guide will be Michael Simpson, Antioch University New England Core Faculty and licensed wetland scientist. Michael will teach the basics and a bit about glaciers using a soil pit.
