Author Dr. Lisa Brooks will present the multifaceted history of this area, giving a deeper understanding of Native history and place. The focus will be the area around Ashuelot as an important space in King Philip’s War, and especially in Mary Rowlandson’s captivity narrative.  The presentation will cover the complex picture of war, captivity, and Native resistance during the “First Indian War”.
