Japanese Koto Concert
The koto is an ancient stringed instrument that is found in both Japan and China. It dates back thousands of years. The concert will be given by Hiroko Varela. Hiroko will explain the symbolism of the instrument’s design, demonstrate the technique and give members of the audience an opportunity to play it. Reservations required
 
    Saturday, July 12  - 2 pm
Arranging Flowers from Your Garden
Designers and national show judges from The Homestead Garden Club will lead a workshop on flower arranging. Designs will include the Oriental style, mass and vertical style. Participants will take an arrangement home that they have made themselves.

$12 per person materials charge. Reservations required.

Chautauqua 2008: Maverick Entertainers - Performers that Shaped America
Highlighting P.T. Barnum and Sophie Tucker, two popular American entertainers that represented their times but also helped Americans move into a different era. Hosted in the garden of the Horatio Colony House Museum and funded by the New Hampshire Humanities Council, the Keene Sentinel and partnering organizations of Keene Public Library, the Historical Society of Cheshire County and the Horatio Colony House Museum.
